Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Ride

  • The ride will begin and end at McGregor Memorial Conference Center on the campus of Wayne State University

Did you know that Martin Luther King, Jr. first delivered his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech in Detroit? It’s true! On January 15, 2018 we invite you to join TdT for its 7th annual celebration of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. 

 

  • START TIME:  10 AM. 
  • GETTING TO THE EVENT: The ride will begin and end at McGregor Memorial Conference Center on the campus of Wayne State University.
  • PARKING:  Parking is available on-street (free on the holiday) and at structures PS#2 (Lodge Service Drive S. of Kirby), PS#8 (Forest between Woodward and Cass Ave.) surface lots #32 (at the Law School) and #31 (behind the Faculty Administration Building).   • THE COURSE:  The route is approximately 10 miles in length and will feature several historical sites relevant to Dr. King and other local activists that were integral to the March and the impact of the “I Have a Dream” speech delivered at Cobo Arena afterward.
  • HELMET MANDATORY RIDE:   ALL cyclists must be wearing their BIB and a helmet to ride in this event. Double, and triple check that you have the appropriate gear before leaving the house.  
  •  BAG RESTRICTIONS: To protect the safety of our riders, please note that no bags over 420 cubic inches (6.9 L) will be permitted on the ride.

  • POST-RACE:  After the ride, hot chocolate is being kindly provided by Wayne State University.
