Annual Sierra Club-sponsored Green Cruise

  • Sat, August 14, 2021

Mary Woloszyk is planning to do the 42 mile ride if anyone wants to join her.  She is planning to meet at 7:30am Harding Park in Ferndale and ride to the start.

The Annual Sierra Club-sponsored Green Cruise is Saturday, August 14th, 2021.

The 8am 42-mile ride to Belle Isle, and the 9am eight-city 22-mile ride to Birmingham, will start from the Ferndale City Hall at 300 E. Nine Mile Road, returning at approximately noon.

The rides are rain-or-shine and there is no rain date. Your participation helps promote Sierra Club’s principles of exploration, enjoyment and protection of the Planet.

Eventbrite ticket information can be found on the Green Cruise Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/GreenCruise/  and directly here:

8am 42-mile Event URL Green Cruise 42-mile 8am ride

9am 22-mile Event URL Green Cruise 22-mile 9am ride

Pace:

The 8am 42-mile ride has two groups at 17+ mph & 12-16 mph

The 9am 22-mile pace will be 12 mph

In keeping with National Sierra Club Covid 19-safety guidance, state mask requirements prevail so there is no mask requirement while gathering outside for the ride or during the ride. However, regarding entering the restrooms at the Ferndale City Hall and the Lexus Velodrome on the long ride, or Beverly Park restrooms on the short ride, “Sierra Club strongly encourages the continued use of masks in indoor spaces where vaccination status is unknown, mixed, and/or in crowded indoor spaces.” For this reason, please bring a mask to the event. Here is a link to Sierra Club’s safety tips.

No in-person payment will be taken the day of the event. Tickets for the rides are available now on Eventbrite (search “Green Cruise”) for $12 + fee. Additionally, you may purchase a ticket online on the morning of the event or online at the event. Note: you will need to sign a Sierra Club waiver the day of the event. Questions may be directed to Jerry Hasspacher at jhasspac@gmail.com
